Today marks six years of Attention Experts.

11th August 2016, Attention Experts was registered as a business. I kicked things off that first week with $250, a person I employed off Gumtree, two friends working commission-only sales and started in an Officeworks Meeting room that was free that also doubled as the staff lunch room for the Officeworks employees (it smelt like fast food).

I had no idea what I was doing in building an agency and no idea of the challenges that would lay ahead.

I also was lucky enough to have a guy I just knew for a year or so, Lucious Capers, to help me establish some sales. We’ve become great friends over the last six years. And away we went.

We rented a small boardroom/meeting room that became our office, and once we grew above 4, we then moved to a proper office. After that, we moved three times, doubling the office size each time to our current office size.

Some of the clients we acquired in that first week of trade, we still have till today, which I’m very proud of – and also proud of the fact I call them friends also.

Many people claim they have a great team that’s led to a great business. But I think it combines clients, staff and partners who have built Attention Experts. The spirit of the organisation and all who have been involved have created a beautiful little purposeful machine.

Lucky for me, I’ve had help from some great team members who have worked significant hours to carry projects over the line with some great results.

I’m so grateful for some of the partners we have met and friends made through networking and generally meeting people. It is an absolute pleasure to meet some great minds and amazing people.

Having worked on campaigns such as the Tokyo Olympics with Seven West to some major brands, I’m proud of the organisation’s dynamic.

I still think the years we are in currently are formidable. So I’m not going to claim we are there yet. But I’m proud of the trajectory and learnings that have been accomplished quickly.

Some green shoots are coming through in our team currently that I think are going to be the future of the growth of this small/medium business to a large organisation in a few years.

Thanks to everyone who was part of the journey, and I’m happy to have met some great people along the way.

Regards,

George Hawwa
